Senator Lovely’s Statement on the One Year Anniversary of the October 7th Attacks

It has been a year since the tragic October 7th attacks shook the world and left a profound mark on countless lives. As we reflect on the senseless violence that took more than 1,200 lives from us on that day, we must also acknowledge the continued suffering and loss that have followed in its wake.

As we move forward and mourn the lives lost, we must resist the urge to respond with hate toward others in our community. Instead, let us seek unity, dialogue, and understanding, remembering that healing can only come from standing together, even in the face of anger and loss.

As we reflect on the past year, let us honor the memories of those we have lost and continue to pray for the safe return of the 97 hostages still held in captivity by Hamas. We must also continue to pray for peace and an end to the violence that continues to tear families and nations apart.

With Peace,

Senator Joan B. Lovely
