Salem awarded $25,000 grant via Middle School Career-Connected Learning Partnership
(BOSTON—9/30/2024) Senate Assistant Majority Leader Joan B. Lovely (D-Salem) is pleased to announce that Salem Public Schools has been awarded a $25,000 grant through the FY24 Middle School Career-Connected Learning Partnership program. This funding will help the district develop a career-connected learning model for middle school students, aligning with the My Career and Academic Plan (MyCAP) framework.
The grant is to support both in- and out-of-school time lessons, activities, and projects that will be developed to support students as they discover their personal interests, skills, talents, and passions. The program will also help students to explore careers that align to those attributes and allow them to engage in meaningful experiences to deepen their learning. By connecting classroom learning to real-world opportunities, the Career-Connected Learning Partnership program helps students better understand the relevance of their education and plan for high school and beyond.
“This grant is a great opportunity for Salem Public Schools to help students discover their potential and prepare for future career success,” said Senator Lovely. “By providing career exploration at an early age, we’re giving students the tools to make informed decisions about their futures.”
The program focuses on three domains for college, career, and civic readiness—personal, social, and emotional development, career development, and academic planning—helping students build a foundation for lifelong success.
