Senator Joan Lovely Named to Leadership Position in Massachusetts Senate
(Boston) – Today, Senate President Stan Rosenberg announced committee assignments for the current legislative session that began in January. The President named committee chairs, and also his leadership team comprised of a majority leader, 3 assistant majority leaders, a majority whip, 2 assistant majority whips and a president pro tempore. Senator Joan Lovely was appointed Assistant Majority Whip, a critical role on the Senate President’s leadership team.
“It is an honor to be named Assistant Majority Whip,” stated Senator Lovely. “I’d like to extend a sincere thank you to Senate President Rosenberg for his confidence and trust in me. I am looking forward to being part of the President’s leadership team.”
Senator Lovely was also appointed Vice-Chair of the Joint Committee on State Administration and Regulatory Oversight and Joint Committee on Children, Families and Persons with Disabilities. She will also continue her service on the Ways and Means Committee along with the following committees: Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development, Joint Committee on Telecommunications, Utilities and Energy, and Joint Committee on Public Health.
“I look forward to the many important issues we will consider this session and I’m very excited for the opportunity to contribute to the overall direction of the Senate through President Rosenberg’s shared leadership model, now as part of Senate leadership,” added Senator Lovely.
